I work with Adults and Young People in private practice just outside Bath. I work Mon - Fri 9- 5, term time only (largely).

Whatever has brought you here, I hope you find something useful for you in these pages. Sometimes things can feel overwhelming and yet it can be easy to diminish our feelings and bury them for another day. My invitation to you is to listen to your feelings and whatever you do with them have compassion for yourself while you do it. Have a look around the website and if you have any questions, get in touch.

Bath, South West UK.

Adults

 You

Although you may sometimes question this; you are the expert on you. Modern neuroscience tells us that as you grow from early infancy, you are writing your own self-manual. However, sometimes it feels like you need help understanding it; maybe it needs an update as previous ways of working in the world are no longer effective at keeping sadness, stress or anxiety at bay; maybe what worked before is now causing the problem. Maybe you have some big life events that have taken their toll, or maybe you just feel a bit adrift or stuck.  Whatever you are feeling, talking therapy offers you a safe, confidential and non judgemental space that can help you figure out what is going on in your inner and outer worlds.

 Me
I offer a non judgemental, safe and secure place in which you will be treated with empathy, warmth and with no expectations. I often take a few sessions to allow us both to figure out where you are at in yourself and in the world. This tends to mean you no longer feel like you are talking to a stranger. My work is informed by neuroscientific research; not least of which is that while a human is feeling stressed or anxious they are not able to process, feel and think "straight". It is therefore of paramount importance to me that you feel safe and secure and not uncomfortable in our work. As a result I encourage honest feedback from you whenever you feel you want to share it.
I largely work in school term times only, but can often be flexible and offer a blend of zoom and face to face through part of the school holidays if we feel that you need more time.

Young people (11-18)

Young people may find life hard for a number of reasons. Situations, events, relationships, change or loss are all examples of reasons a child or young person might need a safe space to go to explore what is going on for them and why they may be experiencing uncomfortable or unsettling feelings.

Through ensuring the young client feels safe and secure, a space is opened up in the counselling room where a young client can start to explore their feelings. After the exploration and expression, strategies can be put in place to help them naviagte their lived experience in a less overwhelming way

I work with young people between 11 and 18 and I tend to work in a fun and engaging way that meets them where they are at, going at their pace and ensuring we find the way that works for them to connect with themselves and the counselling process. Whether that is through art, music, drama, walking, dogs, toys, games, rugby, the lost goes on. I start with the young person in front of me and we go from there.

Please do reach out and drop me an email if you are interested in working with me. I offer a half price online or face to face assessment session in which you can tell me a bit about what is going on for you, and we can both reflect on whether I am the right counsellor for you at this stage in your life.
